TOWANDA - The Black Knights picked up a 5-2 victory over Notre Dame in girls' tennis action on Thursday.

At first singles Melinda Haggerty beat Kaley Hoefferle 6-0, 6-0 and at second singles Abbey Smith of Towanda defeated Victoria Lawes 6-2, 7-5.

Haggerty and Smith teammed up in first doubles to defeat Maddie Leonard and Olivia May, of Athens, 6-0, 6-0.

In fifth singles Towanda's Meredith Guffey beat Megan Cleary 6-1, 6-1 and in second doubles Towanda's team of Kaitlin Hallabuk and Carly Chaffee beat Emily Lepkowski and Emily Donahue 6-0, 6-0.

In third singles Notre Dame's Catie Fennell defeated Hallabuk 6-4, 6-4 and in fifth singles Mary Pelkowski of Notre Dame defeated Chaffee, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3.

In exhibition play Anisa Kondrak and Brina Pochal of Notre Dame defeated Briana Hollenback and Melina Hoffman, 6-1 and Kondrak and Pochal beat Erica Place and Elizabeth Vana 6-2.

Towanda 7, Elkland 0

In first singles Haggerty beat Ashley Doan, 6-1, 6-3 and in second singles Smith beat Bekka Paul, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, while Hallabuk beat Courtney Amann 6-2, 6-1 in third singles and Chaffee topped Brandy Brockway 6-1, 6-3 at fourth singles. In fifth singles Guffey beat Alexis Hoffman 6-3, 6-4.

Haggerty and Hallabuk beat Doan and Carlena Marvin 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and Smith and Chaffee topped Paul and Brockway 6-4, 7-6 (10-6).

In exhibitons Hollenback and Hoffman beat Courtney Herron and Kim Tulanowski 6-4 and Place and Vana beat Victoria Rose and Carla Ayers 6-1.

Towanda 5, Wellsboro 2

Haggerty beat Hannah Smith 7-5, 6-4 and Smith topped Kirsten Clemens 6-4, 6-2.

Hallabuk defeated Corrine Young 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 and Wellsboro's Deanna Getaen beat Chaffee 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, while Wellsboro's Tawny Amorosa beat Guffey 6-4, 6-2.

Haggerty and Hallabuk topped Smith and Ashley Evans 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles and Smith and Chaffee topped Clemens and Amarosa 6-0, 6-0.

In exhibitions Megan Ludlam and Taylor Russell of Wellsboro beat Hollenback and Hoffman 7-5 and Chris Kennedy and Fran Lupkowski of Wellsboro beat Place and Vana 6-4.

Galeton 4, Towanda 3

Towanda got wins from Haggerty 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 over Bethany Schweigart at first singles and Smith over Andi Leach 6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 6-4 at second singles.

Haggerty and Smith beat Schweigart and Leach 6-1, 6-2 at first doubles.

Galeton got a win from Alivia Bullock over Hallabuk 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) and Mataya Mc Pherson beat Chaffee 6-4, 6-3, while Rebecca Schweigart beat Guffey 6-0, 7-5.

Bullock and McPherson beat Hallabuk and Chaffee, 6-2, 6-2.
