Towanda tennis tops Galeton; North Penn-Liberty beats Wellsboro
TOWANDA - The Black Knights won all five singles matches on their way to a 6-1 win over Galeton in NTL girls' tennis action on Wednesday.
In first singles Hannah Innocenzo won 7-6 (8-6), 6-0 over Kassie Brown and Katie Christian won 6-1, 6-0 over Kelly Murray at second singles, while Mary Fink won 7-5, 6-0 over Mary Polz at third singles.
In fourth singles Megan Paulish won 6-0, 6-3 over Grace Olafson and Courtney Bennett won 6-4, 6-3 over Sierra Burrus at fifth singles.
In first doubles Brown and Murray beat Paulish and Catelyn Spencer 6-4, 6-1 and in second doubles Fink and Christian won 6-1, 6-4 over Polz and Olafson.
In an exhibition match Towanda's Ali Daum won 6-3 over Angela Brown.
North Penn-Liberty 5, Wellsboro 2
North Penn-Liberty took the first four singles spots on the way to the victory on Wednesday.
In first singles Jourdyn Buckheit won 7-5, 6-3 over Raisa Rogers and Savannah Alexyn won 6-1, 6-0 over Maddy Clemens at second singles, while Katey McCloskey won 6-0, 6-2 over Shyann Foreman at third singles and Lauren Briggs won 6-4, 6-2 over Bailey Corse at fourth singles.
In fifth singles Wellsboro's Riley Kitchen won 6-0, 6-2 over Molly Furlong.
In first doubles Buckheit and Alexyn won 6-3, 6-0 over Clemens and Corse and Foreman and Kitchen won for Wellsboro 6-4, 6-2 over Briggs and Furlong in second doubles.
North Penn-Liberty is 3-0 on the year and Wellsboro is 2-1.
