Towanda to host Dandy Mini Mart Duals Three Athens wrestlers go unbeaten at Jarvis Tournament

The Towanda Black Knights will host the Dandy Mini Mart Duals on Saturday.
The tournament begins at 11 a.m. and the finals are set to begin at approximately 4 p.m.
In the first round, Towanda wrestles Williamson, Catasauqua takes on Western Wayne, Tioga meets Hanover and Williamsport wrestles Meyers.
Round two has Meyers and Towanda, Hanover and Catasauqua, Western Wayne and Tioga and Williamson taking on Williamsport.
In the third round, Williamsport meets Towanda, Williamson takes on Meyers, Tioga meets Catasauqua and Hanover meets Western Wayne.
The teams are then seeded and wrestle a pair of rounds against teams from the other pool. Matches will be wrestled in both high school gyms.
Towanda is the defending champions and they return 12 letter winners. The NTL team out of District 4 is headed by senior Travis Chesla, a fourth-place finisher at states, who wrestles at 189 and was 31-6 last year. Cody Wheeler wrestles at 112 and the junior was a regional champion, who finished 37-4 last year. Junior Caleb Willey was a district qualifier last year, when he went 21-17, and he wrestles at 125.
Zack Ripic wrestles at 140 and the sophomore was a district qualifier who went 28-11 last year. Sophomore Dale Maynard was 22-15 last year and the 119-pounder was a district qualifier.
The Tioga Tigers wrestle out of the IAC Conference and Section IV in New York. They feature three-time sectional champion, and last year's state champion, junior Derak Heyman, who wrestles at 140. Corey Spires is a three-time sectional runner-up and wrestles at 119 and Josh Manuel is a two-time sectional runner-up and wrestles at 145.
The Williamson Warriors are out of District 4 and the NTL and they feature Jeff Shuster. The junior was 22-8 last year and wrestles at 140. He was a third-place finisher at sectionals last year. Mackenzie Button was also a third-place sectional finisher and the senior was 22-9 last year and wrestles at 189.
The Williamsport Millionares are a Class AAA team out of District 4. They feature Leroy Harmon, a sophomore at 125, who was 30-7 last year and a regional qualifier. Scott Bailey is a senior at 285 who was 23-7 last year and a district champion and Tim Maeshack is a junior at 285 who was 17-16 last year and a district runner-up.
Steve Eck is a senior at 171 who was a district runner-up last year.
The Wilkes-Barre Meyers Mohawaks are out of district 2, Class AA. They feature sophomore Vito Pasone at 112. Pasone was 30-3 last year and won a district title and took third at regionals. Bill Dress is a junior at 152. He was 18-17 last year and a fourth-place finisher at districts. Anthony Gibson is a junior at 285 and he was 17-8 and a district winner last year.
The Hanover Area Hawkeyes are a Class AA team out of District 2. They feature Matt Lukachinsky, a junior at 145. He was 19-12 and a district runner-up last year. Garrett Wynn is a junior at 140 and he was 15-14 and a third-place finisher at districts last year and John Elick is a junior at 125, who was 20-10 and a fourth-place finisher at districts.
The Catasauqua Rough Riders are a Class AA team out of District 11. They are led by senior Curtis Gardner at 285. He was 28-8 and a regional fifth-place finisher and district runner-up. Vinny Pellechia is a sophomore at 125 who was 20-10 last year and fifth at districts. Tanner Simmon is a senior at 140 who was 24-13 and a third-place finisher at districts last year.
The Western Wayne Wildcats are a Class AA team out of District 2.
The Athens Wildcats watched three wrestlers go undefeated at the Jarvis Tournament on Friday night.
At 119 pounds, David White was 3-0 on the day. White won 16-1 by technical fall in 5:50 over Jacob Shearer of Greene before winning 21-4 in 6:00 over Tom Nevelizer of Palmyra-Macedon by technical fall. White pinned Joe Rowland of Norristown in 1:45.
At 130, Ben Knecht was also 3-0 on the day, winning by technical fall 15-0 in 5:20 over Kevin Packer of Tunkhannock and beating Kyle Halliday of Johnson City 10-4. He won a 15-4 major decision against Shane Cook of Juniata.
At 152, Garrett Russell was 2-0 on the day, pinning both of his opponents. He got the fall over Kyle Hendricks of Juniata in 1:26 and Mike Thomas of Tunkhannock in 2:19.
Mike Testen and Todd Hall each went 2-1 on the day for Athens.
At 160, Testen pinned Zack Edmondson of Tunkhannock in 3:12 and beat Seth Gilbert of Johnson City by technical fall 19-3 in 3:40.
He lost a 13-1 major decision to Craig Scott of Palmyra-Macedon.
At 215, Hall pinned Chris Hadges of Johnson City in 2:39 and he pinned Andy Paro of Palmrya-Macedon in 1:02, before falling 4-2 to Travis Bryant of General McLane.
Nate Thompson and Tim Stanton each went 1-2 on the day for Waverly. Thompson beat Casey Drake of Tunkhannock by fall in 1:41 at 285. He lost to Marc Robbins of Norristown by fall in 41 seconds and he lost a major decision, 16-3, to Lance Moore of Johnson City.
Stanton pinned Kyle Nichols of Tunkhannock in 5:07 at 125, lost by technical fall 15-0 in 6:00 to Brandon Horn of General McLane, and he lost a 9-0 major decision to Justin Jones of Palmrya-Macedon.
At 135, Marshal LeBlan lost by fall to Ben Mowry of Palmrya-Macedon in 1:15, he lost by fall in 3:35 to Dayton Ngo of Johnson City, and he was pinned in 22 seconds by Juniata's Brandon Rowles.
At 140, Kyle Sunseri was pinned by Juniata's Seth Beitz in 1:33 and by General McLane's Zach Baumgartner in 1:55.
At 171, Aaron Padilla lost 10-4 to Tom Nuhfer of General McLane and he was pinned in 3:20 by Green's Blaine Kenyon. He lost 5-3 to Mitch Wiernusz of Tunkhannock.
