Towanda tops Liberty, CV beats NEB
TOWANDA - The Black Knights picked up a 65-30 boy's basketball win over Liberty in NTL cross-over action Monday.
Bailey Potter had 14 points to lead Towanda while Dave Rodenhizer added 11 points and four steals.
Noah Huff scored nine, Joel Miller added eight with five boards while Tristan James and Brad Sparbanie had six points each. Dan Fetterman had five points and five rebounds with Brandon Dinelli, Lij Griffin and Garrett Mosier chipping in with two points a piece.
Cody Schmouder had 10 points to lead Liberty while Jacob Spring netted five. J.J. Walker and Cody Fritz had four points each, Tyler Upham, Kenny Kreger and Dalton Litzelman had two points a piece while Harley Kilmer rounded out the scoring with one point.
There was no JV game.
Cowanesque Valley 59, Northeast Bradford 36
The Indians broke open a close game in the second quarter to pick up the boy's NTL cross-over win Monday.
CV led 8-6 after the first quarter but out scored the Panthers 20-8 in the second to take a 28-14 halftime lead. They would out score Northeast 31-22 to secure the win.
Josh Nudd led CV with 18 points while Brandon Whitesell added 10. Tyler Melko scored nine, Luke Plummer had seven while Bryant Painter and Dakota Corwin had six points each.
Nate Bonham hit a three to round out the Indian's scoring.
Shawn Hakes led Northeast with 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists while Jordan Goodwin added nine with four blocks. Elija Arias added four, Nikolaus Geiser had three while Todd Bonin and Andy Seeley had two points each. Bonin also had three steals.
Mason Merrill added a free throw to round out the Panther scoring.
Cowanesque Valley JV won as well.
Johnson City 47, Athens 39
A late push by Johnson City propelled them by the Wildcats in non-league boy's basketball action Monday.
Johnson City led 15-12 after the first quarter but a 9-4 second in favor of the Wildcats put them up 21-19 at the half.
Johnson City would out score the Wildcats 28-18 in the second half to secure the win.
Brandon Fauver had 13 points to lead Athens while Jon Canfield had nine points and 10 boards. Luke Wright added seven points and 12 boards while Garrett Clark chipped in with six points, 10 boards, seven assists and three steals.
Curt Moore rounded out the scoring with four points.
Johnson City won the JV game 45-41. Aaron Barry led Athens with 18 points while Ryan Seager added 11.
The Wildcats will host Sayre Wednesday.
