WYSOX - Towanda scored three runs in the top of the sixth to break a 2-2 tie and beat Wellsboro 5-2 to stay alive for the District 15 Majors softball title Friday.

Wellsboro struck first in the second as Lauren Singer to go up 1-0.

Towanda took a lead in the fourth as Vanessa Vanderpool and Cearra McLinko both scored to go up 2-1.

Wellsboro knotted the game up in the bottom half of the inning with Ryan Adams finding home.

Then in the sixth McLinko, Emily Dunn and Kourtney Dunn also scored to give Towanda the win.

McLinko had two hits for Towanda while Josie Rowe, Zoe Czajacowski and Whitney Maloney also had hits.

Rowe earned the win, striking out two.

Hailey Neal, Singer, Adams and Brooke Baker had hits for Wellsboro while Singer and Adams scored runs.

Cathryn Brought had five strikeouts in the loss.

The final game for the title will be held on Sunday at place to be determined.


Sayre 14, RTL 8

Sayre got home runs from Quinn Hanafin, Corbin Brown and Keegan Rude during their win over RTL on Friday.

RTL scored three in the top of the first, but Hanafin's home run in the bottom of the inning tied the game and Sayre added four in the third and seven in the fifth inning.

Kayla Satzer scored a run for Sayre an Rude had a home run and three runs scored.

Rude's home run came during Sayre's four-run third.

Hanafin had three hits, with the home run and two run scored and Jon Cron had two hits, with a double, and two runs scored.

Zach Moore had three hits, with a double, and two runs scored and Brown had a pair of hits, with a home run in the fourth inning and two runs scored.

Tim Hendricks had a double and Zach Watkins scored a run.

Rude started on the mound for Sayre.

RTL got a hit and a run from Shane Fuhrey and Mitch Burke had a hit and a run scored.

Christian McClelland had a hit and scored three runs and Zach Brown had three hits, with a home run and a double, and a run scored.

Jacob Carr had a run scored and Colton Johnson scored a run, while Matt Brown had a hit and Joey Wheeler had three hits, with a double.

Shane Wood started on the mound for RTL.
