TOWANDA - Towanda defeated Williamson 6-1 in NTL girls' tennis action Monday.

The Black Knights swept the singles beginning with Kaitlin Hallabuk earning a 6-2, 6-0 win over Anna Copp at first singles. At second singles Carly Chaffee defeated Kim Wilber 6-1, 6-0, at third singles Hannah Innocenzo won over Danielle Bolt 6-0, 6-0, at fourth singles Erica Place defeated Jen Uhler 6-0, 6-0 and at fifth singles Katie Christian beat Jackie Uhler 6-0, 6-0.

The teams split the doubles matches with Towanda's Christian and Mary Fink defeating Wilber and Bolt 6-2, 6-3 in first doubles while the Warrior duo of Copp and Jen Uhler beat Arisa Kimura and Madison Flynn 6-2, 6-1 in second doubles.

In exbhibition action Towanda's Ruby Haskins and Rachael Webb-Burke defeated Lindsay Short and Jackie Uhler 6-4 while Williamson's duo of Sarah Vayansky and Georgia Colvin won over Towanda's Jordyn Russell-Miller and Rachel Dawsey 6-0.

Liberty 5, Cowanesque Valley 2

NORTH PENN - The Mountaineers won two close matches to pull out the NTL girls' tennis win Monday.

In first singles CV's Hayley Painter won over Jourdyn Buckheit 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 while at second singles Liberty's Savannah Alexyn won a key match over Indian Courtney Schauer 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

At third singles Liberty's Katey McCloskey won 6-0, 6-1 over McKenzie Sweet, at fourth singles CV's Amanda Painter defeated Lauren Briggs 6-2, 6-2 while at fifth singles Liberty's Savannah Dunlap pulled out a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Indian Delaney Ruef.

The Mountaineers swept the doubles matches, with a team of Buckheit and Alexyn beating Hayley Painter and Schauer in another nail biter 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 while at second doubles McCloskey and Briggs won over Sweet and Amanda Painter 6-3, 6-4.

Liberty improves to 3-2 on the year.

Bucktail 5, Galeton 0

The Bucks remained undefeated in girls' tennis action as they picked up a non-league win Monday.

At first singles Maria Morgan rallied to beat Galeton's Andi Leach 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 while at second singles Abby Ransom defeated Kassi Brown 6-0, 6-0.

At third singles Mary Fecteau beat Kate McInroy 6-1, 6-1, at fourth singles Kaetha Gentzyel defeated April Howell 6-2, 6-1 and at fifth singles Alaina Tripp won over Grace Olofson 6-1, 6-0.

The doubles matches were suspended due to rain.

"This was an excellent match that displayed never quit attitudes and the continuing improvement of all the girls on this team," Bucktail coach Daniel Heiser said. "The girls tennis skills and knowledge are growing and they are coming together as a team!"

The Bucks improved to 6-0 overall and are 4-0 in the NTL.
