Towanda tops Wyalusing; Wellsboro, North Penn, Mansfield, Athens, Tioga, Sayre win

The Knights used a big second quarter to top Wyalusing 65-48 in NTL East boys' basketball action Friday.

Towanda held a narrow 14-11 lead after the first quarter but jumped out to a 34-24 halftime advantage and never looked back.

Casey Huff led the Knights with 23 points, two assists and two steals while Mason Roof added 10 points and nine boards.

Robbie Abrams had eight points, 11 boards and four blocks while Joel Miller and Nolyn Chaffee had six points each.

Noah Huff, Dave Rodenhizer, Brad Sparbanie and Jake Serrano-McEwen had two points a piece. Rodenhizer added three boards and two assists. Noah Huff also had three assists.

Aaron Johnson led Wyalusing with 26 points while Kye Novak added seven. Domenic Ciccolini chipped in with six, Cody Pickett added four while Jeremy Allyn had three and Jonah Shotwell scored two.

Towanda won the JV game 34-32 behind 14 points from Tristan James while Dylan Bates had 11 and Bailey Potter netted seven.

Towanda is at Mansfield Monday.

Athens 75, Northeast Bradford 17

LERAYSVILLE - The Wildcats stayed unbeaten in NTL play with an NTL East boys' basketball win Friday.

Adam McCauley led Athens with 16 points, four assists and two blocks while Garrett Clark had 13 points, two blocks and five boards. Mark Wright was in double figures with 11 points and two blocks.

Curt Moore had nine points while Craig Moore added seven points with 10 boards. Luke Wright netted six points with five assists, Brandon Fauver had five points, Jon Canfield netted five points while Robert Fauver had three points and six assists.

Davis Young had six points and five rebounds to lead the Panthers while Todd Bonin had five points and two steals.

Jake Hottle netted four points with five boards while Shawn Hakes had two points with four blocks.

Athens won the JV game 74-32. Dan Moyer led Athens with 21 while Jarrett Priester netted 13. Hottle led Northeast with 15.

Wellsboro 44, Williamson 37

The Green Hornets rallied from a halftime deficit to down the Warriors in NTL West boys' basketball action Friday.

Williamson led 10-6 after one and held a 20-17 lead at the half. An 18-12 third quarter in favor of Wellsboro put them ahead and they stayed ahead in the fourth.

Matt Reese led Wellsboro with 15 points while Jordan Jackson added 12. Dylan Prough scored eight, Joey Doganiero netted five while Sam Mitchell and Mike Pietrapola had two points each.

Ryan Bidlack and Derek Vargeson had 11 points each for Williamson while Drew Fish added seven. Trevor Adriance scored four while Devon Smith and Shea Daley added two a piece.

Wellsboro won the JV game 37-27 as Williamson was led Nick Cevette's eight points.

The Warriors travel to Liberty Monday.

North Penn 77, Troy 38

The Panthers jumped out 26-14 and never looked back in NTL cross-over basketball action Friday.

Jimmy Price had a double-double of 22 points and 13 boards to lead the Panthers while Dan Prouty and Jason DeHaven had 14 points each. Prouty added five assists.

Brad Brubaker scored eight, Colin Craig added seven, Kaynen Arredondo netted six, Ryan Martin had four while Andrew Craig chipped in with two.

Evan Polly led Troy with 11 while Ryan Reeves netted eight. Brandon Mattocks scored seven, Jed Wright had six, Chad Cole netted four while Quinten Wandell scored two.

North Pen won the JV game.

The Panthers are at CV Monday.

Mansfield 75, Cowanesque Valley 48

The Tigers out scored CV 36-12 in the second half to pick up the NTL West boys' basketball win Friday. Mansfield held a 38-35 lead at the half.

Marquis Delgado flirted with a quadruple-double for the Tigers with 20 points, seven boards, eight assists and eight steals. Alec Simpson added 22 points while Taylor Hillson had nine.

Dallas Dzuiba netted eight, Taylor Swingle scored seven with seven boards, Sam Rotella had six points, four steals and four boards while Brady Andrews netted three.

Mitch Dent led CV with 19 while Gavin Howe scored 10. Justin Post netted nine, Alan Wood scored five, Landon Pierce added three while Brandon Whitsell had two.

Mansfield won the JV game 46-27 as Bo Burleigh had 12.

The Tigers host Towanda Monday.

Girls

Sullivan County 49, Millville 32

Alyssa McDonald had a season-high 22 points to lead the Griffins to a Heartland Conference win Friday.

Addie Jordan added nine while Justine McCarty, Meredith Lambert and Shelby Zeller had six points a piece.

Maci Bower led Millville with 11.

There was no JV game.

Sullivan will be at St. John Neumann Tuesday.
