Trojans handle Raiders
TROY - Both Troy and Montgomery had three falls each but the Trojans added seven more wins to the Raider's one as they won their District IV Duals opening round match 46-20 Wednesday.
Troy's Cyle Ercolino pinned Montgomery's Matt Goetz in 1:18 at 132, Colton Blake pinned Raider Dylan Smith in 1:38 at 170 and Briar Jenkins scored a fall over Montgomery's Jesse Baker in 3:16 at 285 for Troy's three falls.
At 145 Nick Stephani added a technical fall in 4:20 over Montgomery's Michael Gomez while Clint Vermilya (120) and Nick Bruce (138) had major decisions for the Trojans. Clint Vermilya's was 12-4 over Montgomery's Nicholas Buckle while Bruce's was 11-2 over Ben Minier.
Troy also got three decisions. At 106 Ethan Calkins scored a 6-0 win over Montgomery's Kyle Drick, at 126 Chad Vermilya had a 7-1 win over Jacob Kramer and at 152 Trey Murray scored an 8-4 victory over Dominic Galanti.
Landis Zimmer (182) added a forfeit for the Trojans.
Montgomery's three falls came from Kobe Galentine (113), Garrett Shnyder (160) and John Goetz (220). Galentine pinned Troy's Jared Spalding in 4:34, Shnyder pinned Josh Tedesco in :59 and Goetz pinned Skylar Drake in 1:10.
The Raiders also got a decision as Tyler Betz edged Blair Bennett 1-0 at 195.
Troy will advance to Milton on Saturday.
