Troy out scored Sayre 13-6 in the fourth quarter to pull out an NTL boys' basketball win, 49-47, Saturday.

The two teams were tied at 12-all after the opening quarter with the Redskins leading at the half 24-20. They would extend the lead to 41-36 going into the fourth.

"Our kids at the end picked up their defense," Troy coach Bob Woodward said. "It was nice to see us pull it out just by effort, it was nice to get a win."

It was a hard fought game from beginning to end.

"Sayre played really hard throughout the game, also," remarked Woodward.

Jed Wright had 22 pionts, seven assists, four steals and three blocks to lead the Trojans while Evan Polly had seven points and 12 boards.

Brandon Mattocks had six points, Ryan Reeves and Brady Bourne had four points a piece, Alex Butcher scored three, Thomas Swain had two and Gage Burns netted one.

Reeves also had 10 boards.

For Sayre Marshall Higley had 13 points and seven boards while Seth Murrelle added seven points and eight assists. Cuyler Kochin and Marcos Velazquez had six points each, Kochin grabbing seven boards, Nick Sweet and Joey Galizia had five points a piece, Matt Williams scored three with Marshall Felt netting two.

Galizia also had seven rebounds.

Leading scorer Nate Williams didn't play in the game.

Sayre won the JV game.

Troy will host Liberty Monday.

Wyalusing 59, Cowanesque Valley 55

The Rams hit 12 threes as they were able to edge the Indians in NTL boys' basketball action Saturday.

CV jumped out to a 32-24 halftime lead but an 18-8 third quarter in favor of the Rams put them up 42-40 going into the final frame.

In the fourth Wyalusing's Cody Pickett and Matt Woodruff combined to score 15 of their 17 points as they held on for the win.

Pickett finished with 25 points, including six threes, while Woodruff added 15 with four threes. Keshon Gardner added nine, Kyle Tinna scored five, Zamien Benditt-Parkes netted three while Devin Carr added two.

Josh Nudd led CV with 21 points, including all eight of their third quarter points. Tyler Melko added 12, Dakota Corwin scored 11 while Nate Bonham and Bryant Painter had five points each. Brandon McClean rounded out the Indian scoring with one point.

Wyalusing takes on Canton on Monday.

Athens 47, Northeast Bradford 40

The Wildcats overcame an early deficit to pull out the NTL boys' basketball win Saturday.

NEB led 14-6 after the first quarter but a 15-7 run in the second by Athens knotted things up at 21-all. Athens then out scored the Panthers 26-19 in the second half.

Brandon Fauver led the Wildcats with 15 points while Tyler Forbes added 11 points with five steals and four assists.

Dan Moyer added seven points, 15 boards and four blocks while Fred Horn netted five, Ryan Segar scored four, Zane Vargason and Joe Moyer had two points each with Jarrett Priester adding one with four assists.

Eljah Arias had 14 points to lead the Panthers while Jordan Goodwin added 11. Garret Smith scored nine, Austin Senn-Bishop netted three, Levi Upham scored two and Tommy Rought added one.

Sullivan County 53, Millville 41

The Griffins had built a 48-16 lead after three quarters en route to their Heartland Conference win Saturday.

Conner Wylie had 21 points and nine boards to lead Sullivan while Sean Flannery added 11 points and four assists.

Adam Szklanka had 10 points and six boards, Bob Polcrack added eight points while bobby Frank scored three.

Gil Repa led Millville with 14 points.

Millville won the JV game 54-43 as Jon Pedro and Miguel Rodriguez had nine points each for the Griffins.

Sullivan hosts St. John Neumann on Monday.

Tioga 57, Edison 54

The Tigers pulled out their first win of the season in IAC boys' basketball action Saturday.

They jumped out to a 17-6 first quarter lead but Edison roared back in the second to cut it to 31-25 at the half. Tioga pushed it to 45-36 going into the fourth but the Spartans used an 18 point fourth quarter to get back in the game.

The Tigers would hold on, making 8-of-16 free throws to seal the win.

John Dougherty led Tioga with 21 points while Josh Kithcart added 11. Parker Hendershot scored eight, Michael Williams netted six, Sam Burns and Dylan Babcock had four points each while Adam Zwierlein scored three.

Jake Bavantka had 12 to lead Edison.

Tioga won the JV game 46-25.

Towanda 82, Canton 46

The Black Knights jumped out to a 24-10 first quarter lead as they rolled to an NTL boys' basketball win Saturday.

Noah Huff had 15 points to lead Towanda while Bailey Potter and Tristan James had 12 points each. Dylan Bates and Dave Rodenhizer netted eight a piece, Noah Wheeler scored seven, Lij Griffin and Garrett Mosier had six points each, Nick Place added five while Nick Innocenzo had three.

Bates also had four assists.

Tim Bassett had 18 points to lead Canton with Dylan Fleet added seven and Jesse Lattimer scoring six. Christian Thoren scored five, Jarin Segur and Mason Moore netted four a piece while Ridge Moore chipped in with two.
