Waverly graduate Brian Tubbs helped lead the Alfred State men's outdoor track & field team to the Region III title on Saturday afternoon.

The title is the program's eighth and comes in the Pioneers final year participating in the NJCAA. The women's team finished third out of the five teams. The Pioneers won by 77 points with their 247 points. SUNY Delhi was second with 170, Herkimer CCC was third (116), Mohawk Valley CC fourth (72), and Finger Lakes CC fifth (33).

The blue & gold had four individual Regional Champions on Saturday. Tubbs won the 400 in 50.25, Travis Nagle (Randolph) won the pole vault (4.10 m), Brian Edwards (Neversink/Tri-Valley) won the shot put (14.19 m), and Anthony Soto (Waterloo) won the javelin (46.90 m)

The 4x100 team of Desmond Chambers (Rochester/Gates Chili), Ismail El-Amin (Rochester/Wilson), Zack Woodard (Adams Center/South Jefferson), and Tubbs won in 43.01 while the 4x400 team of Nate Andres (Arcade/Pioneer), Josiah Thomas (Rochster/John Marshall), Woodard, and Tubbs won in 3:26.04.

The Pioneer men swept the Region III track titles for the first time since 2002. The indoor team also won the Region III title in February.
