The Wolverines came out a little slow, but ultimately prevailed against Sidney in Section IV, Class C volleyball playoff action Wednesday.

Waverly lost the first game 25-15 but won the next three 25-14, 25-19 and 25-14 to take the match.

Jordan Raupers had six aces, 13 points, 13 assists, 10 kills and six digs while Sam Mennig had 11 points, 17 assists and eight digs.

Also for the Wolverines, Morgan Salsman had seven aces, 13 points and 13 digs, Erin Fagan had 10 kills and two blocks, Becca Morgan had four points and four digs and Dana Langdon added four points and five kills.

For Sidney Jillian Young had four aces, five kills, one block and eight digs while Paige Redmond had an ace, 12 assists and three digs.

Early in the evening, Sidney beat Watkins Glen 3-2 for the chance to play the top seeded Wolverines.

Waverly will now advance to the semi-finals today at Horseheads Middle School with a 4 p.m. start.
