WAVERLY, N.Y. - Waverly had three players in the double figures as they defeated Tioga 65-42 in the opening round of the girl's division of the Waverly Christmas Tournament Thursday.
Waverly led 15-9 after the first quarter then went on a 26-7 run in the second quarter to pull away from the Tigers.
Sabrina Bowman led the Lady Wolverines with 20 points, six assists and three blocks while Reylyn Schwartzhoff added 17 points, seven boards and four steals.
Jordan Raupers was also in double-figures with 16 points and five boards.
Emily Walker netted five points and five boards while Megan Wilbur, Jenna Bowman and Victoria Cron had two points each. Jenna Bowman added three steals and three assists.
McKenna Mattison scored one point to round out the Waverly scoring while Kylie Newman had three assists.
Callie Patsellis led Tioga with 20 points while Emily Schweiger netted seven. Hannah Manwaring added five, Sarah Whitney scored four while Sierra Beebe and Lexi Swagler had two points each.
Waverly will be in the championship game on Sunday while Tioga awaits the loser of Sayre-Wyalusing in the consolation game slated for Saturday. Both start at 5 p.m.
Tioga won the JV game 49-46 behind Lynzy Baker's 14 points and Olivia Howland's 12. Waverly was led by Kiana Manuel's 23.
The loss snaps Waverly's 26 game win streak.

Waverly 71, Tioga 22
WAVERLY, N.Y. - The Wolverines jumped out to a 23-6 first quarter lead en route to their opening round win of the Waverly Christmas Tournament boy's bracket Thursday.
Dylan Perry had 13 points to lead Waverly while Dylan Wright added 12. Zach Cooney had 11 points while Cody Marchese added eight with eight steals and five assists.
Kyle Kuzma and Tim Sutton had six points each with Sutton added six rebounds. Alex Uhl netted five points while Pat Bronson and Chris Raupers had four points each. Ryan McFarland rounded out the Waverly scoring with two.
Bronson and Raupers had six boards each for the Wolverines.
John Dougherty led Tioga with six points while Josh Kithcart netted four. Dustin Sherman and Dakota Skinner added three each, Sam Burns and Zach Worthington had two points each with Dan Graves and Dylan Babcock netting one point a piece.
Waverly will face either Sayre or Wyalusing in the championship game Sunday while Tioga takes on the loser in the consolation game Saturday. Both start at 7 p.m.
Waverly defeated Tioga 79-31 in the JV game. Peyton Miller led the Wolverines with 26 while Zach Huthinson had 10 for the Tigers.

ELMIRA, N.Y. - Evan Polly had 15 points to lead the Trojans in their loss.
Brandon Mattocks added seven points and six boards while Thomas Swain netted five points.
Ryan Reeves and Chad Cole had four points each with Reeves adding five rebounds. Rounding out the scoring was Jared Murray and Sean Mosher with two points each.
Luke Ruddy led Mynderse with 18 points.
Troy will face Mansfield today at 12:45 p.m. in the Jack Terwilliger Boy's Regional Division consolation game at 12:45.
Notre Dame 52, Edison 45
The Crusaders advances to the final in the Joel Steven's Boys' Regional Division.
Jonas McCaig led Notre Dame with 16 points, hitting four of five threes, and Tom Agan had 14, while Darius Garvin had 11 for the Crusaders.
Derek Marshall had six for Notre Dame and Nate Niles and Wyatt Martin had two each, while Devon Jackson had one point.
Agan and Garvin each had six rebounds in the game, while Garvin had three assists and four steals and Marshall had three steals. Hunter Thomas had two assiss and two steals.
Austin Merritt led Edison with 23 points and Skyler Wilkens had 11 points.
Notre Dame takes on either Athens or Corning at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday.
