The Waverly girls took second overall at the Class Sectional, Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend while Notre Dame finished fourth.

Waverly amassed 68 points while Notre Dame had 50. Dryden won with 136 points.

This is Waverly's second year in a row finishing as the runner-up.

Wolverine Kelsey Frank won the 3000 in 11:48.28 while also taking fourth in the 1500 at 5:38.11.

Liia Carpenter was third in the 55 at 7.66 with teammate Kaylee Uhl third in the 600 at 1:41.36. Waverly's Katelyn Moore was fourth in the 1000 at 3:24.32 while Courtney Chandler took fifth in the 1500 racewalk in 11:00.60. Teammate Shelby Tubbs finished fifth in the 55 hurdles in 10.13 while Kylene Chandler was fifth in the 3000 in 12:55.91 and Samantha Goble took fifth in the 600 in 1:49.21.

Also for Waverly, Audri Frisbie was eighth in the 1500 at 6:13.91.

Waverly won the 1600 relay in 4:19.80 with a team of Carpenter, Lea McMahon, Goble and Uhl and took second in the 3200 relay in 10:47.95 with a team of Moore, Daelyn Smith, Kylene Chandler and Goble. Waverly's 800 relay was also second in 1:54.00 with a team of Carpenter, McMahon, Danielle Burkhart and Uhl.

Sarah Rote took fourth in the shot put at 28-feet, 8-inches.

For Notre Dame Brittany Schutrum won the 55 in 7.42 while also taking second in the 300 in 42.08. Teammate Mary Pelkowski was second in the 600 at 1:40.43.

Deborah Diarra was fourth in the 400 in 43.97 and fifth in the 55 at 7.77. Teammate Allegra Dawes was fifth in the 1000 in 3:25.01.

The Crusader's 800 relay of Diarra, Pelkowski, Victoria Schutrum and Brittany Schutrum won in 1:50.32 while their 1600 relay of Julianna Bunnell, Michaela Volino, Emilie Guermeur and Dawes was seventh in 4:54.87.

Victoria Schutrum was third in the shot put at 28-feet, 11-inches while Volino was eighth in the triple jump at 26-feet, 1/4-inches.

On the boy's side, Waverly was fifth with 36 points while Notre Dame took seventh with 18. Trumansburg won with 138 points.

Wolverine Jon Puusalu was fourth in the 55 high hurdles at 9.00 while also taking sixth in the triple jump at 36 feet.

Collin Traub finished fourth in the 3200 at 10:33.63 while teammate Randy Chandler was fifth in 10:33.74. Rich Northrop was fifth in the 600 for the Wolverines at 1:30.91, Jim Heffner was fifth in the 55 high hurdles at 9.62 and Jacob Goble was fifth in the 300 at 38.80.

Austin Trengo took eighth in the 600 at 1:36.40.

Waverly's 3200 relay of Randy Chandler, Brian Schlicher, Mason Salsman and Traub was second in 9:19.11 while their 1600 relay was third in 4:55.65 with a team of Northrop, Joe Giovenco, Heffner and Trengo. Their 800 relay was fourth in 1:40.88 with a team of Jacob Goble, Northrop, Trengo and Puusalu.

For Notre Dame, Dan Cleary was third in the 3200 in 10:31.49 while teammate Carl Shen was third in the long jump at 19-feet, 6 1/4-inches. Shen also took eighth in the 55 at 7.15.

Charles Raudat was seventh in the 300 at 39.92 while Aaron Carson was seventh in the shot put at 38-feet, 6 3/4-inches.

Notre Dame's 1600 relay of Cleary, Garrett Butters, Tony Volino and Mike DiFabio was fourth in 4:00.15.

All those who finished in the top three of their event was named to the first team of Sectional All-stars while all those finishing fourth through sixth was named to the second team.

Waverly and Notre Dame will be in action on February 23 back at Cornell for the state qualifier.
