WAVERLY, N.Y. - Waverly jumped out to a big lead en route to their 52-38 Section IV, Class B girls' basketball win over Chenango Valley Tuesday.

"Its playoff time and the girls came out and built a nice first quarter lead," Waverly coach Brian Miller said. "We'll build on the positives and move on to the next round."

Waverly led 15-4 after the first quarter and extended it to 28-11 at the half before coasting in the second half for the win.

Sabrina Bowman had 26 points, nine rebounds, six steals and seven assists to lead the Wolverines while Reylyn Schwartzhoff added 10 points and seven boards.

Jordan Raupers and Jenna Bowman added four points each with Jenna adding five boards, three steals and three assists. Emiley Myers and Emily Walker had three points each. Myers added five boards and three assists while Walker grabbed seven rebounds.

Kylee Newman rounded out the Waverly scoring with two points.

Maddie Staiger led Chenango with nine points.

Waverly will now travel STAC champions 17-1 Oneonta, who are currently ranked second in the state. The will be on Friday with a 7 p.m. start.
