Waverly's Wolcott earns another trip to states
For the third straight year Waverly's Ryan Wolcott is headed back to the New York State Wrestling Championships.
Wolcott earned a 3-2 win in the finals Dillon Hurlburt of Marathon on Saturday at 220 points in the Section IV Championships to guarantee himself a trip to states.
The match was tied with 17 seconds left when Hurlburt was called for stalling giving Wolcott the victory.
Tioga's Jesse Manuel earned a second-place finish at 138-pounds falling to defending state champion Connor Lapressi of Lansing and will await to see if he earns a wild-card to the state meet.
Tioga's Christian Richter at 182 and Brandon Ellers of Waverly at 160 both took third place and have the possibility of a wild card.
Tioga's Kaleb Stone and Zach Kelsey and Waverly's Austyn Bostwick earned fifth-place finishes and the Tigers' Dan Hoskings was sixth.
