Waverly second at IAC Championships
Waverly took second at the IAC Championships at Watkins Glen Saturday.
The Wolverines amassed 407 points, just 10 behind overall champion Lansing.
Waverly led things off with a win in the 200 yard medley relay as a team of John Hallett, Josh Mastrantuono, Brighton Wood and Caleb Jenkins won in 1:44.74. Mastrantuono then took second in the 200 free in 1:55.99.
Waverly had two swimmers place in the 200 IM as Tanner Burt was third in 2:26.58 while Mike Girolamo took fifth in 2:27.61.
Hallett won the 50 free in 22.23 followed by Wood taking second in the 100 fly in 1:01.66 as Brandon Whitley was seventh in 1:08.83. Fellow Wolverine Jared Steward was eighth in 1:13.76.
Hallett returned to win the 100 free in 50.09 with Jenkins taking seventh in 55.72.
Waverly's Gary Moorehead took seventh in the 500 free at 5:54.54 while Whitley finished eighth in 5:57.79.
Waverly won the 200 free relay in 1:35.01 with a team of Mastrantuono, Wood, Burt and Hallett. Following that Jenkins was sixth in the backstroke at 1:09.35.
The Wolverines swept the breaststroke, going 1-2-3. They were led by Mastrantuono's 1:02.29, Wood was second at 1:06.58 and Burt took third in 1:08.19.
Waverly was third in the 400 free relay in 3:54.16 behind a team of Whitley, Jenkins, Burt and Girolamo.
The Wolverines also won the diving with 51 points to Watkins Glen's 17.
