WAVERLY, N.Y. - The Waverly boys basketball Summer League playoffs began on Monday.
But first they finished off the regular season.
In their finales, Watkins Glen defeated Mansfield 52-45, Canton held off Notre Dame 49-48, Waverly edged Towanda 47-45, Horseheads topped Owego 67-24, Corning beat Sayre 44-16 and SVE defeated Wyalusing 56-27.
Watkins Glen (10-1) finished with the top seed and a first round bye. Also earning byes were second seeded Corning (9-2), third seeded Waverly (8-3) and fourth seeded Notre Dame (8-3).
In the first round, Mansfield defeated Sayre 38-13, Horseheads downed Canton 71-43, Owego topped Wyalusing 55-44 and SVE beat Towanda 52-40.
In the second round, Horseheads defeated Owego 59-36 while SVE topped Mansfield 63-47.
The playoffs will finish next Monday at Sayre High School.
Waverly will take on SVE at 4 p.m. with the winner playing Corning while Horseheads and Notre Dame face-off at 5 p.m. for the right to face Watkins Glen.
The semi-finals will be at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. with the finals slated for an 8 p.m. start.
