Waverly swimmers fall to Chenango Valley
The Waverly boys' swim team fell to Chenango Valley on Wednesday, 104-79.
Chenango Valley swept the 200 medley relay, but Mike Girolamo (2:12.72), Gary Moorehead (2:16.26) and Brandon Whitley (2:21.98) went 2,3,5 in the 200 free.
Josh Mastrantuono was second in the 200 IM in 2:16.35 with Tanner Burt taking fourth in 2:33.85 and John Hallett won the 50 free in 23.32 with Brighton Wood finishing third in 25.10.
Nick Peterson was second in the diving at 138.70 and Devon Pierce was third at 68.30 as Waverly got within seven.
Wood (1:03.04), Girolamo (1:12.84) and Brandon Anderson (1:20.45) went second, fourth and fifth in the 100 fly and Hallett won the 100 free in 51.3 and Mastrantuono won the 500 free in 5:32.2, with Whitley taking third in 6:28.67 as Waverly got within nine.
Mastrantuono, Hallett, Wood and Jenkins won the 200 free relay in 1:40.01 and the Wolverines also took third to get to within three at 7067. But, Chenango Valley went 1-2-3 in the 100 back to go up 13.
Burt was second in the 100 breast in 1:09.66 for Waverly.
Waverly returns to the pool at Southern Cayuga on Jan. 29.
