Waverly won their opening season volleyball match, Tuesday, defeating Watkins Glen 3-0.

The Wolverines won the games 25-11, 25-16 and 25-21 in IAC action.

Bailey Tryon had 16 points, four aces and four digs for Waverly while Morgan Salsman added 10 points, three aces and four digs.

Also for the Wolverines, Sam Mennig had six points and six assists, Dana Langdon had five points and six kills and Jordan Raupers had five kills, seven assists and five points.

In JV action Waverly swept again, winning the games 25-19, 25-12 and 25-15.

Angelica Hager led the Wolverines with 11 points while Karleigh VanNess had 11 points and six aces. Hannah Place notched five points, three aces, four kills and three digs while Stephanie Belles added eight points, four aces and two digs.

Tioga 3, Newark Valley 1

TIOGA CENTER, N.Y. - Bry Godfrey had 15 aces, eight kills, six digs and 26 points to lead the Tigers to their season opening IAC volleyball match Tuesday.

Malley Bowen added 13 aces, 18 assists, three kills and 21 points while Erika Bailey had six kills, three blocks and four digs. Natalie Burns had six kills and three blocks while Charlsie Bowen also had six kills.

For Newark Valley, Sami Short had six points and one kill while Megan Wright added three aces, Cassidy Tobey had two assists and Cassie Robinson notched three digs.

Tioga won the JV match 2-0 with games of 25-11 and 25-3.

Emily Rathkie had five assists for Tioga, Rachael Graham notched four kills and Brittany Vergason scored eight aces.

Tioga will host Edison on Thursday.
