Waverly tops Dryden in boy's swimming action
The Waverly Boys swim team defeated Dryden by a score of 118-58 in IAC boy's swimming action on Tuesday.
The Wolverines were led by team captains John Hallett and Josh Mastrantuono as they both were quadruple winners on the night. They teamed with Mike Girolamo and Caleb Jenkins to win the medley relay (1:59.74) and with Brandon Whitley and Freshman Gary Moorehead to win the 400 free relay (4:05.62).
Hallett's individual wins came in the 50 free (23.58) and 100 back (1:01.20) while Mastrantuono won the 100 free (55.90) and 100 breast (1:08.84).
Jenkins teamed with Mike Girolamo, Tanner, Burt and Kendrick Wood to win the 200 free relay (1:50.35).
Senior Nick Peterson won the diving with a score of 113.25.
Also turning in top performances for the Wolverines were Jered Stewart in the 200 free and 100 fly, Josh Gallaher in the 200 and 500 frees, Brandon Whitley in the IM and 500 free, Brandon Anderson in the 100 fly, Mike Girolamo in the 100 fly, Fred Miller in the 50 Free, John Casterline in the 500 free and 100 back, and Gary Moorehead and Dylan Hammond in the 100 Backstroke.
Waverly improves to 2-1 on the season and will host Athens on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
