Behind a strong performance from Matt Reese, both at the plate and on the mound, the Wellsboro Green Hornets defeated Danville 5-2 on Tuesday.

Reese was 4-for-4 at the plate with a double and two runs scored and Dawson Prough had two hits, with a double, and two runs scored.

Ben Shaw added a double for Wellsboro in the game.

On the mound Reese went the distance, limiting Danville to six hits, while striking out six.

Wellsboro jumped out early, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Danville fought back to cut the deficit to one after two innings, before Wellsboro again made it a two-run lead in the fourth.

In the fifth the Ironmen again got within one, before Wellsboro tacked on two runs in the sixth to seal the victory.

Wellsboro hosts Williamson on Friday.
