Wellsboro boys top Towanda
The Green Hornets got a hat trick from Erik Stemcosky in the victory on Wednesday.
Stemcosky scored at 4:16 off a Josiah Hill assist and Towanda tied things at 12:20 off a Tanner Marble goal.
Stemcosky gave Wellsboro the lead at 23:21 off a Dan Brooks assist and he scored again at 24:09 off a Gillan Alafoginis assist.
Hill scored at 75:55 off a Tucker Worthington assist.
Wellsboro had 25 shots and Towanda had four shots. Jake Mitchell had three saves for Wellsboro and Devin Patel had 14 for Towanda.
"I am happy with the win after playing back-to-back nights," Wellsboro coach John Shaffer said. "It was senior night and it was great to send the seniors out with a win. We did not play our best, but it is a sign the program is improving when you can be slightly disappointed even with a victory. We have two days to rest up until our final home game with Williamson Saturday morning."
Candor 5, Waverly 1
The Wolverines got a second-half goal from Callum Caplan in the loss.
Candor got four first-half goals from Kevin Jensen (28:06), Adam Nichols (11:53), Jake Vanscoy (8:16) and Jensen again (7:28), before Nate Gordner scored off a C.J. Shands assist in the second half.
Candor had 26 shots and three corners and Waverly had 10 shots and one corner.
Grand Caplan had nine saves for Waverly and Candor had five saves.
Watkins Glen 2, Tioga 0
Brennon DeMerritt scored at 23:00 of the first half off a Matt Estes assist on a corner kick and at 8:00 of the half Estes scored off a Luke Flahive assist on a through ball.
Watkins Glen had 10 shots and four corners and Tioga had four shots and five corners.
Luke Hoose had five saves for Tioga and Tony Keough had four for Watkins Glen.
Tioga hosts their senior and parent recognition game on Friday with a 7 p.m. start against Newark Valley.
