SAYRE - Wellsboro came from behind to down Sayre 3-2 in double overtime in NTL girls' soccer action Tuesday.

Wellsboro's Alexis Getty got the Hornets on the board off a penalty kick with just over a minute left in the first half to make it 2-1 at the half. Getty added another goal in the second half to send the game into overtime.

Getty then had a hand in overtime as she found Taylor Acorn with only 27 seconds left in the overtime period for the winning goal.

The Green Hornets out-shot Sayre 23-11 with Wellsboro's keeper Sherri Hovis recording eight saves. Sayre's goalie Sarah Ostroski stopped 10 shots.

"It was a good first win," Athens coach Duane Hafer said. "We played well as a team. We passed quite well; I'm very pleased with the passing game."

Wildcat goalie Sam Stropko made five saves while Mansfield goalie Kasey Evans stopped 13 shots.

Northeast Bradford 4, Wyalusing 2

The Lady Panthers kicked off their season with a win over their rivals in girls' soccer action Tuesday.

Northeast's Kylie Oley started off the scoring 40 seconds into the first half off a free kick to give her team a 1-0 advantage. Roughly 20 minutes later Northeast went up 2-0 when Calla Martin scored off an Allyssa Coon assist.

Wyalusing got on the board 32 minutes into the game as Lauren Chadwick scored unassisted, cutting the lead to 2-1 at the half.

At the start of the second half Northeast's MaKaylah Holbert scored off a Martin assist to give the Panthers a 3-1 advantage. The Rams once again cut it to one as Ceira Holland found the back of the net off a Chadwick assist.

However, with seven minutes left in the game Oley put it away for Northeast as she gave the Panthers a 4-2 lead off a penalty kick.

"Tonight's game was a very closely played game," Northeast Bradford coach Larry Jennings said. "Both teams had some good opportunities. Our keeper, Kelsey (Carlsen), did a great job stopping two penalty kicks and our offense and midfield created some great opportunities and capitalized when they needed to. Our young defense also did a great job of keeping the ball out of our goal."

Carlsen had 12 saves on the day while Wyalusing keeper Caitlyn Doerner stopped nine shots. Both teams had 14 shots on goal.

Wyalusing won the junior varsity game 2-0. The Rams' keepers were Courtney Coleman and Coon while the Northeast keeper was Lisa Saxe.

Odessa Montour 7, Waverly 1

The Wolverines fell at home to OM in IAC soccer action Tuesday.

"We were completely outplayed and nothing came together for us," Waverly coach Tara Franklin said. "Our level of play is just not good enough. We need to be more consistent and start off a lot faster."

Injuries plagued the Wolverines all game.

"Unfortunately, two of our starting defenders are injured (Ian McMahon and Buddy McIntire), which really hurt us today," Franklin said. "Also, in the first 20 minutes of the game our goal keeper (Anthony Mack) was injured and Nick Keenan stepped in for his third game in goal. We were missing our players and I feel it threw everyone else off."

OM out-shot Waverly 26-8 and edged the Wolverines in corner kicks, 5-4.
