Wellsboro edges Wyalusing; North Penn, Mansfield, CV win
The Hornets held on to down Wyalusing 49-46 in NTL cross-over boys' basketball action Wednesday.
Wellsboro led 30-24 at the half but Wyalusing hung tough in the third as both teams scored 11 points each. The Rams out scored Wellsboro in the fourth but couldn't quite close the gap.
Dylan Prough led the Hornets with 20 points while Matt Reese added 12. Jordan Jackson scored eight, Sam Mitchell had four, Mike Pietropola netted three while Joey Doganiero added two.
Aaron Johnson had 23 points to lead Wyalusing. He also grabbed his 500th career rebound in the game.
Jeremy Allyn added eight, Mitchell Picket scored four, Cody Picket had three with Domenic Ciccolini netting two.
Wellsboro won the JV game 38-29 behind 16 from Pietropola.
The Hornets are at Williamson Friday.
North Penn 44, Williamson 30
The Panthers avenged two early season losses with the NTL West boys' basketball win Wednesday. North Penn jumped out to a 28-14 halftime lead and held on from there.
Jason DeHaven led the Panthers with 14 points while Jimmy Price added 13. Dan Prouty netted seven, Brad Brubaker and Ryan Martin had four points a piece while Kaynen Arredondo added two points with eight boards.
Ryan Bidlack and Derek Vargeson had nine points each to lead Williamson. Troy Adriance added five, Drew Fish scored four, Shea Daley netted two while Trevor Adriance added one.
North Penn won the JV game.
The Panthers host Troy Friday.
Mansfield 62, Galeton 39
The Tigers broke open a close game in the second half for the NTL West boys' basketball win Wednesday.
The game was knotted at 14 all after the first quarter with Mansfield taking a 31-22 lead at the half. The Tigers then out scored Galeton 31-17 in the second half to get the win.
Taylor Hillson led Mansfield with 23 points, 10 boards and three assists while Alec Simpson added 16 with seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. Marquis Delgado and Sam Rotella had eight points each, Rotella also had seven rebounds.
Taylor Swingle added four points with seven rebounds while Reece Correll scored three with seven boards.
Nate Jeffries scored 17 to lead Galeton while Dakota Shadle netted nine. Logan Smith, Bob Williams and Nick Hand had four points apiece with Rick McNatt scoring one.
Cowanesque Valley 73, Liberty 31
The Indians jumped out to a 20-7 first quarter lead and never looked as they picked up an NTL West boys' basketball win Wednesday.
Mitchell Dent had 18 points to lead CV while Gavin Howe and Justin Post added 16 points a piece. Landon Pierce scored nine, Alan Wood added six, Luke Plummer netted five, Nate Bonhamm scored two while Josh Nudd rounded out the scoring with one.
J.J. Walker led Liberty with 15 while Cody Schmouder added six. Tyler Upham added four, Eric Kreger netted three, Cody Fritz had two while Kenny Kreger scored one.
CV won the JV game.
