Wellsboro defeated Williamson in three games to win the Troy JV Tournament Saturday.

The Green Hornets lost the first game 25-16 but the won the next two 25-21 and 15-8 to claim the title.

Towanda lost to Williamson 25-13, 25-23 in the semis while Troy fell to Wellsboro 18-25, 25-20, 25-8.

Towanda took second in their pool, going 7-1 with Wellsboro first also at 7-1. Also in the pool Canton went 3-5, NEB 2-6 and Athens 1-7.

Williamson was 7-1 in pool play while Troy, Mansfield and Waverly went 4-4. Elmira was fifth at 1-7.

In the first play in game Waverly beat Mansfield 15-12 but lost to Troy 18-16.

Towanda swept Canton (25-20, 25-14), Athens (25-18, 25-13) and NEB (25-7, 25-11) while splitting with Wellsboro (27-26, 19-25).

Kayla Brown had 55 assists, two kills and 31 points for Towanda while Kayla Grimes had 13 kills and 31 points. Tara Welliver added 13 kills and 14 points, Veronica Black had 13 kills and one block, Sarah Dawsey had one assist, 15 kills and 21 points, Casey Holly had six points, Kayla Miller had one kill and five points, Samantha Peachey added four kills and three points, Elizabeth Heman had a kill, Sierra Allen had fourpoints, Liz Mosher had two kills and one point, Allison Pepper had two kills while Katelyn West added a point.

For Troy Kari Ammerman had 22 points and 11 aces, Faith Cryan had 21 points and eight aces, Kristin Kinner had 21 points and six aces, Melissa Hulslander had 21 points and two aces, Alyssa MacWhinnie had seven points and one ace, Jamie Patrick had 16 points and six aces, Abigail Storrs had six points and two aces while Kara Vroman had eight points and four aces.

In pool play Waverly split with Troy 22-25 and 26-24, followed by being swept by Williamson 25-12, 25-18. Waverly swept Elmira 25-15, 25-21 then split with Mansfield 25-21, 17-25.

For Waverly Karliegh VanNess had 22 points, nine aces, 15 assists and 13 digs; Hannah Place had 11 points, seven kills and 13 digs; Angelica Hager had 18 points, 11 digs and five kills; Stephanie Bellis had 15 points and 21 digs; Kendra Ellers had 11 points, six assists and seven kills and Courtney Chandler had eight points and four kills.

Waverly will host SVE Wednesday.
