Wildcats, Knights split
At senior night for Athens the Lady Wildcats defeated Towanda 96.5-76.5 while the Knight boys won 107-37.
"The girls always swim well against the local teams," Athens coach Mark Keister said. "Everyone digs a little more for these meets."
Towanda coach Mike Locke was pleased with his team as well.
"We added a couple more district qualifiers tonight, and hopefully a couple more next week," Locke remarked. "The taper we have planned out for the Northern tier championship has kicked in, and we are looking forward to watching some times drop. These next couple of weeks are the weeks that represent a whole year and the memories that go along with it. This team is ready to go fast!"
On the girls' side a Towanda team of Sarah Lamphere, Morgan Dreisch, Meredith Corbett and Carolyn Black won the 200 medley relay in 2:10.96.
In the 200 yard free style Towanda's Morgan Dreisch edged out Athens' Kirstan Vanderpool 2:23.56 to 2:23.89. Athens' Desisti Giuliana was third.
In the 200 IM Lamphere won in 2:35.57 with teammate Soleil Eagan second and Athens' Abby Kopatz third.
Senior Wildcat Jess Kopatz won the 50 free in 27.51 with Corbett second and Black third. Athens' Allie Vine won the diving with a score of 118.65.
In the 100 fly Jess Kopatz was first in 1:12.21 with Desisti second and Dreisch third.
Corbett won the 100 free in 1:03.85 with Vanderpool and Wildcat Lauren Pruyne second and third.
Athens' Maggie Mahosnki won the 500 free in 7:01.83 with Towanda's Destiny Foster second and Wildcat Megan Wanck third.
The Athens 200 yard free team of Chloe Farrell, Jess Kopatz, Pruyne and Vanderpool won in 1:58.20. Athens senior Abby Beck won the 100 backstroke in 1:19.94 with Towanda's Selena Chilson second and Athens' Taylor Testen third.
Black won the 100 breaststroke for Towanda in 1:23.77 with Lamphere second and Abby Kopatz third.
In the 400 free relay an Athens team of Desisti, Jess Kopatz, Pruyne and Vanderpool won in 4:21.32.
On the boys' side a Towanda team of Christian Basse, Trevor Standish, Mike Schultz and Kody Brown won the 200 medley relay in 1:54.56.
In the 200 free Basse won in 2:08.94 with teammates Derrick Cole and Matt Schultz second and third.
In the 200 IM Knight Mike Caine won in 2:36.75 with teammates Jim Tice and Garrett Johnson second and third.
Towanda's Dan Corbett won the 50 free in 26.40 with Knight Austin Kriner second and Athens' Tyler Solomon third. Caine won the 100 fly in 1:06.41 with Solomon second.
Wildcat Frank Chen won the 100 free in 52.53 with teammate Shane Martin second and Towanda's Alex Sedor third.
Basse won the 500 free in 5:47.95 with Mike Schultz second and Corbett third.
In the 200 free relay Towanda's team of Basse, Caine, Tice and Standish won in 1:40.40. Towanda's Mike Kerrick won the 100 backstroke in 1:08.32 with Kriner second.
Chen won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.71 with Cole second and Martin third.
The Towanda 400 relay team of Sedor, Corbett, Kerrick and Tice won in 4:02.89.
Dan Corbett in the 50 free, Alex Sedor in the 100 free and Mike Schultz in the 500 free all qualified for districts.
