WAVERLY, N.Y. - Dylan Gutierez struck out 14 to lead the Wolverines to a 10-3 IAC baseball win over Candor Saturday.

Gutierez went five innings, allowing two earned runs, three hits and four walks. Niqalas Sinsabaugh took over from there, striking out five to get the save.

At the plate, Cody Marchaese, David Kelly, Chris Jenkins and Kenny Evans had two hits each, with Marchaese and Kelly getting doubles.

Ryan Bronson and James Rynone had one hit a piece.

Marchaese also had three RBIs and two runs scored, with Kelly, Jenkins and Evans scoring twice as well. Joe Grazul and Rynone each crossed home once.

Sinsabaugh, Gutierez, Jenkins, Rynone and Evans also had RBIs.

Clifford Switzer and Chad Rose had the Candor hits, while Bronson Harris took the loss.

The Waverly JV won 9-5.

Tioga 19, Notre Dame 2, 5 innings

TIOGA CENTER, N.Y. - The Tigers didn't miss a beat picking up where they left off last season, as three different Tioga players hit home runs.

Patton Taylor led the way, going 2-for-3 with a home run, five RBIs and two runs. Teammates David Ulrich, Nick Bailey and Matt Stahl each went 2-for-2. Ulrich added a triple, two runs and two RBIs; Bailey had a double, four runs and one RBI and Stahl had a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Zach Williams and Luke Dougherty each went 2-for-3, with Williams adding a run and RBI and Dougherty notching a run scored.

Cody Bennett went 2-for-4, hitting a home run while adding two RBIs and two runs scored.

Also for Tioga, Tommy Ferguson scored three times while Jake Howland scored twice.

On the mound, Taylor started, going two innings to strike out six while allowing on hit, one earned run and one walk. Ulrich came on for two more innings, striking out three while allowing just a walk. Ferguson finished things up, allowing one hit while striking out two.

The Tigers travel to Candor today, then will be at Newark Valley Wednesday.

Athens 13, Mansfield 3

Adam McCauley had a grand slam as the Wildcats started the season 2-0 Monday.

Zack Colegrove was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs for Athens while Chris Pack went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored. Justin Schlosser was also strong at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

McCauley also got the win for the Wildcats, while Craig Moore picked up the save.

For Mansfield, Taylor Hillson went 2-for-4 in the game, with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Jason DeHaven picked up the loss while Sam Rotella and Sam Bohnert also saw action.

Mansfield hosts Troy today.
