Wyalusing boy selected for national baseball event
Wyalusing eighth-grader Mikey Wilcox has been selected to train and compete at the Baseball Factory Select Training and Competition at Pirate City.
Wilcox, a middle infielder, was selected after a strong performance at the Scranton Under Armour Baseball Factory National Tryout in September.
The Baseball Factory Select Training and Competiton is a national invite only event sponsored by Under Armour. The event will take place Nov. 14-17 at the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the official southern home of the baseball factory.
Wilcox, and other select 12-14 year-old-players from across the country, will not only train on the same field as the professionals, but eat and sleep at the complex.
During the four days in Florida, Baseball Factory's staff of former professional scouts, former professional players and former college coaches will work with players from morning until night on all aspects of the game. In addition, players will participate in scrimmages and other live game situations.
