Wyalusing tops Sullivan County

WYALUSING - The Rams held off a pesky Sullivan County team Wednesday 43-31 in boys' basketball action.

Wyalusing led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter and 21-13 at the half. The Rams out-scored the Griffins 9-5 in the third quarter but had to hold off a final Sullivan County rally to get the win.

For Wyalusing, Aaron Johnson had 14 points, followed by Reggie Davis with nine and Paul Hugo with six points, seven boards and three steals.

Chipping in for the Rams, Caleb Sheldon had four points and two assists, Ryan Miller had seven points, Colton Schools had one point and 10 rebounds, Bryan Kolodziej had one point and Tucker Allyn had one point.

For Sullivan County, Brock Mullen had eight points, Tony Farless had seven and Dalton Molyneux had four. Also for the Griffins, Seth Stoner, Zach Meyer and Tom Blaisi had three, Kelby Mullen had two and Ryan Chase had one.

Sullivan County won the junior varsity game 35-34 with Wyalusing's Logan Hitchcock scoring 14 points.

Wyalusing is at Montrose on Friday.

North Penn 39, Towanda 38

The Panthers topped the Black Knights in a close boys' basketball match up Wednesday.

Towanda held an early 11-10 lead in the first quarter and extended that lead to 17-15 at the half. In the third quarter the Panthers rallied to the tune of 16-2, to take a 31-17 lead going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Towanda out-scored North Penn 19-8 but could get over the hump.

For North Penn, Patrick Watkins had 18 points, Trevor DeRemar had 15 and Brion Yaggie scored six.

On the Towanda side, Nate Bennett had 17 points, including five threes, Ben Griffith had 10 points, Anthony Ventello had nine points and Mason Roof pitched in with two points.
